Plan your visit.

Het Gele Laarsje happens every third Monday of the month at the NHL Stenden Experience Center in Leeuwarden. This page covers the practical bits: where to go, when to arrive, which line to join, and what to bring.

You do not need to register for swapping or baby-clothes buying. Walk in during public event time and a volunteer will help you start in the right place.

Time and location.

NHL Stenden Experience Center
Rengerslaan 10
8917 DD Leeuwarden

Swapping and baby-clothes buying are open from 18:30 to 19:30. Free repairs can be handed in from 18:00 if your repair was signed up and confirmed through the newsletter.

The Experience Center is in the large glass building at NHL Stenden. It is directly in the central hall, close to the entrance and just past the closed coffee corner. Look for the Het Gele Laarsje welcome sign or the digital board.

When you arrive.

Check-in is the first stop for almost everyone. Tell the volunteer what you are here for: swapping, baby clothes, repair, donation, or saved credit.

Clothing check starts at arrival

If you bring swap clothes, volunteers check the bag before you browse. It can take a little time at the start, because many people arrive together.

Volunteers help you get started

You do not have to know the system by heart. Ask where to go, what counts, or how baby clothes and repairs work.

Walk in during public time

You can come any time between 18:30 and 19:30. Try to arrive before closing so there is enough time for check-in and checkout.

Which line do I join?

The queue is mainly for people bringing clothes to be checked. Other paths may go straight to check-in when applicable.

Join the normal swapper flow if
  • you brought clothes to swap
  • you are buying baby clothes but also brought clothes to swap
Go straight to check-in if
  • you are only buying baby clothes
  • you are dropping off a confirmed repair
  • you are only bringing donations
  • you are only using saved credit from an earlier event
If you are not sure

Ask a volunteer. That is completely normal on a first visit, especially when there is a queue at the beginning of the evening.

Getting there.

The Experience Center is reachable by bike, bus, or car. Parking details can change, so check the official NHL Stenden page before relying on a tariff.

  • By bike You can park your bike under the building. There are entrances from the road side and from the square.
  • By bus There is a bus stop in front of the building.
  • By car You can park opposite the building. Payment is possible with stadsparkeren or by card. NHL Stenden lists parking as EUR1 for the first two hours, then EUR2.50 for the day, with a maximum of EUR3.50. Check the official NHL Stenden Leeuwarden location page for current parking information.

Accessibility and the room.

The space is accessible for buggies and wheelchairs. The paths are roomy enough to move around, and volunteers can help if needed.

Racks sorted by size

Checked-quality children's clothes, shoes, swimwear, socks, hats, and winter accessories.

Baby sizes up to 62

For the small-size munt path when you are not swapping yet.

Volunteers nearby

At check-in, checkout, and around the room if the system is new to you.

What to bring.

Pack for the path you are taking. If you combine paths, check-in will help you sort out the order.

  • up to 15 clean, accepted clothing items or pairs of shoes
  • your own bag
  • EUR3 access contribution, if you can pay it
  • optional extra good clothes as donation
