Children's clothing swap in Leeuwarden
Every third Monday of the month, Het Gele Laarsje opens its children's clothing swap at NHL Stenden. Swap outgrown clothes, buy small preloved baby sizes, or bring a favourite item for repair.
No registration needed. Walk in during the event and a volunteer will help you find the right place to start.
You do not need to understand the whole system before coming. Pick the path that fits you now.
The first few minutes can take a little time because clothes are checked carefully. That is also when someone explains the system.
You do not have to know the rules by heart before your first visit. Ask at check-in; that is normal.
You will still get help at check-in, but these are the things worth knowing before you pack a bag.
The full rules also explain brands, rompers, donations, and saved credit. Ask at check-in if one of those applies to what you brought.
The event is practical, but it should still feel warm when you arrive: real clothes to browse, volunteers nearby, and enough space to take your time.

"It helped that everything was sorted by size. I could just look around."

If you are expecting a baby, buying a gift, or just starting out, you probably do not have outgrown clothes to bring yet. That is fine.
With the small-size munt, you choose 10 preloved baby items in sizes 50, 56, or 62 for EUR20. Later, when your baby grows, those clothes can become the start of your swap loop.
Why this fits the missionThe event itself is walk-in, but repairs are easier when the team knows what is coming. The newsletter and Instagram also help people remember the monthly rhythm.
Het Gele Laarsje is practical on the surface: you come in, find sizes, and leave with clothes that fit. Underneath that, the mission is simple. Fewer good clothes waiting unused, fewer rushed new buys, and more families sharing what still has life in it.
